The Big Horn Mountains are notorious for their high quality, high quantity snowfall and there is no surprise that there are two alpine ski resorts located within them, both along route 16. Big Horn Ski Resort, located 20 miles from Ten Sleep, offers 800 vertical feet of terrain accessed by two chairlifts. Big Horn has signed on to the park ski and snowboard scene and maintains three halfpipes and a terrain park. Antelope Butte Ski Resort, located 35 miles east of Greybull, is the larger of the two resorts and offers 1000 vertical feet of challenging terrain for skiers and snowboarders alike. For visitors with more of an inclination for Nordic Skiing, the Big Horn Mountains provide miles of excellent groomed trails for exploration. Visitors should check with the local Forest Service Ranger Stations or the individual ski resorts for more information about ticket prices, trail information and special winter events.
