Pinedale is a surprisingly lively place in the depths of Wyoming winter, a popular location for snowmobilers, dogsledders, Nordic skiers and downhill skiers and snowboarders. Pinedale is located along the Continental Divide Snowmobile Trail which extends from Lander to Yellowstone National Park and is also a featured stop on the International Pedigree Stage Stop Sled Dog Race, an internationally recognized dog sledding event. There are over 60km of Nordic skiing trails available along the Skyline Road to the north of Pinedale and the area has become popular with Nordic skiers and snowshoers alike. White Pine, a relatively new ski resort, is also located along the Skyline Road and provides skiers and snowboarders with two chairs providing 25 trails and all the breathtaking scenery and visitor could want. Visitors should check with one of the local outdoor outfitter shops or the local Forest Service for more information on specific trails, difficulty, and guide and outfitter services that provide guides and rentals for various winter activities.
