Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area - Scenic Drives

Scenic drives to consider in and near the Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area are listed below. Click on any name for complete information.

Brown's Park Road 50 miles oneway 2 hours
Browns Park was once outlaw country and if it's no longer that, you can explore the canyons and forests that once served as shelter for the ne'er do wells. Today, these rocks and forests are home to elk and deer.

Flaming Gorge - Green River Basin Scenic Byway 100 miles (160 km) Between 2-2.5 hours. Allow more time if you wish to stop and enjoy scenery and recreational opportunities.

Flaming Gorge Scenic Byway 40 miles oneway 2 - 3 hours
Flaming Gorge Scenic Byway (Hwy. 44) starts at Hwy. 191 south of the gorge and runs 28 miles around the southwestern corner of Flaming Gorge to the town of Manilla. Most of the route is through attractive pine and aspen forests and open meadows away from the gorge, but there are some great views of Sheep Creek Bay and other parts of the gorge.

Flaming Gorge-Uintas Scenic Byway 82 miles (132 km) Two hours (including backtracking on Highway 44) to drive or a day to enjoy the Byway.
As one of the most aptly named landscapes in the country, Flaming Gorge provides vast scenic vistas that you won't be able to fit into your camera! These views may only live in your memory. Drive this scenic Byway and watch Flaming Gorge and the Uintas unfold from several different perspectives.

Sheep Creek/Spirit Lake Loop 48 mile partial loop 2-3 hours
The Sheep Creek Loop runs through the sheer, rugged canyon walls of Sheep Creek Canyon with dramatic views of the Uinta Fault. Spirit Lake Road is a spur road from the Sheep Creek Loop that leads through beautiful pine and aspen forests to pretty Spirit Lake high in the Uinta Mountains.
