Dubois, Wyoming Tourist Attractions

Parks, Museums, Sightseeing, ...

Visitors to Dubois will be impressed by the trout fishing opportunity afforded by the Wind River which winds its way right through town. Just outside town, visitors should consider driving up Union Pass Road, a gravel road system which was the first road built to cross the mighty Absaroka Range. Union Park Road now serves as a scenic byway between Dubois and Pinedale to the south and is extremely popular with mountain bikers during the summer and snowmobilers during the winter, offering excellent access to several different Wind River Range trailheads. The most popular trailhead off the Union Park Road Trail Lake, which provides access to a number of trails within the Fitzpatrick Wilderness section of the Wind River Range. The Glacier Trail starts at Trail Lake access and provides access to Dinwoody Glacier, one of the largest glaciers in the Wind River Range, and Gannett Peak, at 13,804 feet the highest peak in Wyoming. Visitors interested in exploring the Wind River Range should check with the local Forest Service Rangers office for more information on Union Park Road, specific trails, difficulty and distances as well as guide and outfitters that provide services into the wilderness area.
