Description

Golden Gate Canyon State Park features some of the most diverse mountain bike trails in the Golden area.

The park incorporates 12,000 acres of land and has two distinct personalities from its east to its west side. The west side of Golden Gate Canyon State Park features trails that are typically rolling singletrack with little technicality. Trails selected strictly from the west side tend to be a bit easier and are perfect for advancing beginners and intermediate riders. The east side of Golden Gate Canyon State Park features trails that are more technically demanding. There are several steep sections of trail on the east side, with rock jumbles and obstacles for riders to navigate on the downhill.

The most popular trail in Golden Gate Canyon State Park is the Mountain Lion trail. The Mountain Lion Trail features one hard climb and several steep sections. Due to the popularity of all the trails in the Golden Gate Canyon State Park system, riders are encouraged to ride in a clockwise direction to ease congestion and chance for user conflict. In addition, there is a $5 pass required to ride at Golden Gate Canyon State Park.
