Description

Along this trail, hikers can enjoy panoramic views from Short Mountain Vista while observing interesting geologic features on the steep rocky slope above Iron Springs. This loop also travels through open woods on the ridge top and is an ideal day hike.

Other Opportunities:

  • Camp, picnic and swim at Iron Springs Recreation Area.
  • For an extended day hike try the Ouachita National Recreation Trail, 192 miles stretching east to west across the Ouachita National Forest.
  • Visit the Jessieville Visitor Information and Ranger Station for more information on recreation opportunities. Walk the Friendship Trail, a 0.7 mile interpreted nature trail that is fully accessible.

Site Amenities: Water and restroom facilities are available at the Iron Springs Recreation Area.

Requirements: No motorized vehicles are allowed on this trail. Obey all posted signs. Pack it in; pack it out.
Recommended Season: Fall, winter and spring.
