Description

From just below the dam to a take out seven miles downstream at Little Hole, the clear blue waters of the Green River tumble beneath canyon walls providing some pleasant river running opportunities in a beautiful setting.

This popular stretch of river moves swiftly with some easy ClassI and 2 rapids. It can be handled safely by moderately competent beginners in a raft or dory. Those desiring to make the trip in a canoe or kayak should have some experience.

The trip takes about 2 to 2-1/2 hours, depending on water flow. There are no campsites, but there are areas to stop for a picnic lunch.

Outfitters rent the necessary equipment and provide shuttle service, including an early morning shuttle back from Little Hole for those who want to leave a car there. On summer weekends this section of the river is very popular and reservations for rafts are advised.
