Laramie

Laramie (pop 27,000), located along the eastern bank of the meandering Laramie River, sits at the heart of the Laramie Basin, the highest grassland prairie in the world at just over 7200 feet above sea level. Flanked by the Laramie Mountains to the East and the Medicine Bow Mountains to the west, Laramie is a prime location for outdoor recreationalists to base themselves from for a variety of adventures. Laramie, in recent years, has gained popularity amongst many active individuals as a place to call home. Laramie is home to the University of Wyoming, which is the only accredited university in Wyoming, and at just over 11,000 students makes up about half of the city's population. The young and vibrant student community of Laramie adds an extra eclectic element to the city, making it an even more colorful, hip and happening place to visit.

Laramie is easily accessed via car from east or westbound I-80. There are a variety of accommodations available in Laramie to fit any kind of budget, and there is a large selection of excellent dining options around town for travelers to choose from. Laramie is also well known for its busy and energetic nightlife, with good entertainment a common occurrence and a variety drinking establishments to fit any visitor's taste.
